About CLM

Clearwater Media, was  founded in 2009, with a goal of creating fun, entertaining, and educational outdoor films. You ask why this is so important to me? I grew up creating and watching personal movies and films with my family, and I want others to experience the laughter and fun that is shared. My goal is to produce films that friends and families will be able to watch over and over again. I will work with businesses who need a video for their company. As much as I want my business to grow, your business will also grow with the right media touch. Whether it be a wedding, or a business occasion that needs to be filmed, I can work with it all.  I can create wedding memories that will last a lifetime for the new happy couple. Memories they will look back on when they have their 20th,30th and so on anniversaries. All footage will be filmed in HD and edited with Imovie for MAC or Final Pro Cut.

This quote by Robert Frost pretty much sums how Clearwater Media started:
“I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

The road to which the creation of this company was founded on has been all over the place. I started off as a youngster in SE Michigan, trying to trap raccoons in my backyard, to riding my bike 7 miles to fish the Clinton River for Steelhead. Nobody was around to take me by the hand and teach me. I learned most on my own.  On some weekends, my dad and I would travel up north in search of whitetail deer and salmon, not really having a clue on what we were actually doing. Rarely ever successful, we still had a good time and memories were formed. Whether it be on my own personal biking trips( too young at this time to drive) or vacations with my family(all over the North America), a camera was always attached to me.  After a long wait,  I received my driver’s license. Northern Michigan then became my playground, and I was traveling up north almost every other weekend, every year. It was like a uncontrollable, healthy disease that I couldn’t get rid of. You might be asking where this is all leading too. Just hold on, the story is not over.

Sometime in high school, I realized that I wanted to learn how to take better pictures, so I took a photography class. A point and shoot camera then became part of me and I began documenting all my trips, and then posting them on the outdoor forums in Michigan for everyone to see. Now, I had two passions, adventuring across Northen Michigan in search of the greatest catch, and documenting those adventures.
Close to completing my degree in Outdoor Recreation from Central Michigan University, an opportunity came to me, that I could not pass up. The opportunity that presented itselt to me was the Rack Focus Video School. Jason Brown, Preston Bovee and Al Pope were the educators at this great school.  These guys are the best-of-the-best  in producing outdoor television shows. I enjoyed this class and absorbed as much from it that I possibly could. Little did I know, this road was about to diverge, and take me on an adventure that I never thought was possible. I was passionate about Northern Michigan, I was passionate about documenting my adventures, and now I was forming a passion for filming, my life was transforming before my eyes. Later that month, I received a job as a cameraman for Backcountry Quest TV. These travels with them have been unreal, and a great experience. It made me realize that creating a story behind a lens is something I love to do. Every opportunity I am offered at filming something new I snatch it up. I have learned a lot the past couple of years and will continue to learn, and will continue to enjoy what I do.
